Ideas to help your team develop personally and professionally.

Here’s an almost insatiable audience desire: "I want to know where I am in your presentation at all times."

A few speakers are so entertaining that the audience will suspend that desire, but if you’re like most presenters, your credibility goes up when you signpost.

How do I signpost?

You're signposting when you indicate where you’ve just been, and where you’re going next.  Examples:

"So that was how to recognize arachnophobia... Now let's look at how to overcome it."
"Remember I told you that.....? Well here's the pay-off...."
"Well, that’s what we planned. Now here’s what actually happened."

When you signpost, you give the sense of knowing what you’re doing. You’re in control.
